What is the significance of December holidays?

December is significant for the holidays! Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and a Happy New Year! These are only some of the greetings we exchange on the festive holidays in December. Other fun holidays we celebrate include the Winter Solstice, National Bacon Day, and even National Answer the Telephone Like Buddy the Elf Day!

What are some memorable December holiday moments?

Our December calendar is all about desserts. This month, we celebrate a sweet that's been around since the 1800s on National Brownie Day (December 8). If cakes are more your speed, try National Cupcake Day (December 15). And if both of those don't quite hit the spot, National Cookie Day (December 4) might be just what the doctor ordered.

We let the dogs out for a very special holiday—National Mutt Day (December 2)! It's time to show those mixed breed puppers in the world some love.

There are national days in December for both the wine and beer lovers in our lives. We celebrate Sangria Day on December 20. Hundreds of years ago, it used to be substituted for water (which wasn't safe to drink) because of its antibacterial qualities! We also enjoy National Lager Day (December 10).

Have you ever climbed a mountain? International Mountain Day (December 11) is just the time to try. If you're more of a homebody, why not do a crossword on National Crossword Day (December 21)?

Are we missing your favorite December holiday?

If you don't see a holiday you love to celebrate here, head to our holiday submission page and let us know! Make sure you've compiled a bit of information about your holiday before you submit. Is it celebrated widely? Does it have a track record of media coverage? Let us know about any December holidays we should add!
