December Holidays

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, and a Happy New Year! These are only some of the greetings we exchange on the festive holidays in December. Other fun holidays we celebrate include the Winter Solstice, National Bacon Day, and even National Answer the Telephone Like Buddy the Elf Day!

So get out your December calendar (all hail the month of the advent calendar!) and mark down some of these celebratory national days.

PET HOLIDAYS: This month, we let the dogs out for a very special holiday—National Mutt Day (December 2)! It's time to show those mixed breed puppers in the world some love.

FOOD HOLIDAYS: Our December calendar is all about desserts. This month, we celebrate a sweet that's been around since the 1800s on National Brownie Day (December 8). If cakes are more your speed, try National Cupcake Day (December 15). And if both of those don't quite hit the spot, National Cookie Day (December 4) might be just what the doctor ordered.

DRINKING HOLIDAYS: There are national days in December for both the wine and beer lovers in our lives. We celebrate Sangria Day on December 20. Hundreds of years ago, it used to be substituted for water (which wasn't safe to drink) because of its antibacterial qualities! We also enjoy National Lager Day (December 10).

ACTIVITY HOLIDAYS: Have you ever climbed a mountain? International Mountain Day (December 11) is just the time to try. If you're more of a homebody, why not do a crossword on National Crossword Puzzle Day (December 21)?

Find a complete list of December holidays below, and happy celebrating!
