Family Fit Lifestyle Month in January is an inspirational month that can completely evolve the way you and your family’s lifestyle. To achieve this you will need to follow fitness guidelines, eat healthily, and get active! Yes, this may sound tough, but incorporating fitness into your lifestyle will not only improve the quality of your life but will also help in elevating your overall mood. In addition, you will be able to fit into that pair of jeans you thought you would never wear again. And guess what, it’s not impossible because you will have the entire family to support you! So set out some goals and get active today.

History of Family Fit Lifestyle Month

Having a healthy lifestyle is important for everyone regardless of their age, class, or color. This is because today many individuals have become less active since they are constantly glued to their laptops or cellphones. This is especially true in the case of the youth who tends to rely on junk food and laze around. Even though the United States spends almost three times more on healthcare than any other country, the health of people of all ages across the nation is slowly deteriorating. According to the Center for Disease Control (C.D.C.), 35.7% of U.S. adults are obese.

Whereas, 12.5 million children between ages two and 19 are obese. This is extremely worrisome since obesity causes numerous diseases such as diabetes, stroke, heart problems, and so on. The increase in weight can more or less be attributed to fast food and a lazy lifestyle. In fact, figures state that one-third of Americans get around 50% of the calories they consume from junk food. This includes soda, popcorn, sweets, and foods high in fat and cholesterol. A typical person in the U.S. is said to consume over 44 gallons of soda in a year.

Can you imagine how much sugar that is? One can of soda contains 10 teaspoons of sugar! Moreover, research in 2011 revealed that more than 15% of the students were overweight. And the situation is seemingly worsening since over 80% of youth and adults are not obtaining the physical activity they require. Hence, dire measures need to be taken to ensure people reduce their junk food intake and incorporate healthy eating to overcome an unhealthy lifestyle.

Family Fit Lifestyle Month FAQs

How do you live a fit lifestyle?

You can lead a fit lifestyle by exercising, drinking more water, and following a healthy diet. Leading a healthy lifestyle is a consistent job so you have to be dedicated to achieving your fitness goals to see results.

How do beginners get fit?

Beginners can get fit by setting a goal and committing to it. Their goals can be simple things like losing a few extra pounds in the next three months, visiting the gym at least three times a week with no excuses, or even adapting to a healthy diet plan by the next month. They can start small and then increase their goals when they have found their rhythm with leading a healthy lifestyle.

What should I eat to be fit?

Consuming protein is the best way to get fit. Foods such as fish, eggs, chicken, and beans are great choices when it comes to a healthy diet plan. Individuals, however, need to cut down on food that is high in sugar or fat.

Family Fit Lifestyle Month Activities

  1. Go for a run together

Completely free of cost and easy, running in the park together as a family is a perfect way to celebrate the month. Whether it is once a week or maybe just on the weekends, take time to get fit together — it will not only strengthen your body but will allow for quality time with your family.

  2. Cook something healthy

Take the time to create a healthy menu that you and your family will enjoy. You can do this at the beginning of the week to plan for meals for the rest of the week. Each member of the family can then contribute to cooking a dish.

  3. Go cycling

Slightly easier and less stressful than running, cycling is a recreational activity that is perfect for any family looking for healthy activity. Besides being fun, cycling works almost every muscle in the body and is, therefore, a perfect group activity.

5 Facts About Being Healthy

  1. The importance of breakfast

Breakfast is essential because it provides your body and mind with the necessary nutrients and energy to keep you going throughout the day.

  2. Sleep time

Sleep is important for the body as it is during this time that the body undergoes growth and development.

  3. The problem with preservatives

Foods with preservatives have chemicals that deteriorate your body.

  4. No exercise

The death rate of smokers is almost the same as those who do not exercise.

  5. Physical activities you need

Aerobic exercise is especially beneficial for a healthy body as it promotes flexibility and muscle movements.

Why We Love Family Fit Lifestyle Month

  1. It encourages people to stay fit

The month is essential since it highlights the unfit lifestyles of many and encourages families to focus on fitness together. The holiday is celebrated at the beginning of the year so that people see the need for being fit and continue their activities the whole year-round.

  2. This leads to healthy family activities

During this month, family activities that add to everyone's fitness levels are encouraged. Exercising alone can sometimes be boring, but doing so with the family will be fun as you all will be encouraging each other along the way.

  3. It improves health

Since the month spreads awareness regarding the health of people of all ages in a family, people tend to shift slightly towards leading a healthy lifestyle. Family Fit Lifestyle Month is a great way to encourage and educate your lazy family members about the importance of being fit and improving their quality of life.
