Moore was born on September 8, 1979, to Judith Moore and James Moore. Her mother was an E.R. nurse, while her father was an insurance salesman. Her birthplace is Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and she’s a Virgo and an Irish-German-Lithuanian-Jew. Moore’s parents got a divorce when she turned 10, and she attended Central Bucks High School West, where she joined her first band. By 14 years, Moore began performing in Philadelphia clubs. This is where she adopted the stage name Pink.

In 1995, Pink formed the R&B band Choice, with two teenage girls, Sharon Flanagan and Chrissy Conway. The group signed a record deal at LaFace Records, Atlanta. Shortly after this, the record executive, L.A. Reid, offered Pink a solo contract which she took. The group disbanded shortly after. As a solo artist, Pink released her debut single, ‘There You Go,’ in February 2000. The single became a Billboard Hot 100 top-ten hit. She released her debut album, “Can’t Take Me Home,” in April of the same year, and it became double platinum R.I.A.A. certified. The album was a success, and she won the 2000 Billboard Music Awards for Female New Artist of the Year because of it. In 2001, Pink alongside musicians like Christina Aguilera, Mya, and Lil Kim, performed a cover for “Moulin Rouge.” With this song, She won her first Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 2002.
