Luke Hemmings

Background

Luke Hemmings is an adept singer and musician whose talents have won him global recognition. Hemmings is part of one of Australia’s most successful bands, and he was born on July 16, 1996, in Freeman Reach, New South Wales. Hemmings was born into a small working-class family of five. His father, Andrew, was a maintenance worker, while his mother, Liz, is now a photographer. Hemmings is of English and Dutch ethnicity and a Cancer by design. He attended Norwest Christian College, where he met his future bandmates Calum Hood and Michael Clifford. The trio performed at school talent shows before he quit high school in year 12 to focus on the band.

After posting multiple covers of songs on YouTube, the trio with Ashton Irwin had their first official gig in December 2011. They played at a local bar in their hometown. Eventually, their consistent YouTube covers attracted music labels and publishers. They signed with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and released their debut album, “5 Seconds of Summer,” in 2014. Their second album, “Sounds Good Feels Good,” dropped the following year, while the third and fourth, “Youngblood” and “Calm,” were released in 2018 and 2020, respectively. Hemmings and his bandmates also pursue a modeling career as they are signed to Wilhelmina Models. In June 2021, Hemmings announced his solo career, and by August, he released his debut album as a solo artist. The album is titled “When Facing the Things We Turn Away From.” Hemmings’ debut album peaked on the Australian charts and premiered his solo career.

He is a highly successful singer, songwriter, and musician with a huge fan base. He is currently engaged to Sierra Deaton, and the pair live together in Los Angeles.
