Heavenly Kimes was born in Miami, Florida, on November 17, 1970. After completing high school, she received her Bachelor’s degree in biology with minors in chemistry and military science from Florida A&M University before she graduated with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Meharry Medical College, where she topped her class. After completing her studies, Dr. Heavenly attended an A.E.G.D. program in Memphis, Tennessee. She spent three years as a dental assistant before opening her successful venture, Smiles By Dr. Heavenly clinic, in Duluth, Georgia, where she specializes in cosmetic dentistry.

For her work in the field of dentistry, she won the ‘Top Dentist Award’ from the Consumer Research Council of America in 2004. A year later, she co-authored a best-selling self-help book titled “Wake Up…Live the Life You Love: Seizing Your Success.” In 2011, the Georgian newspaper “On Common Ground News” named her one of Atlanta’s top doctors. She published her second self-help book, “Dr. Heavenly’s Business Prescriptions: You Can Have it All!” the following year. Although she was already a well-known figure in the world of American dentistry, she earned her fame in pop culture when she guest-starred in the reality T.V. show “Married to Medicine” in its first season in 2013. She joined the main cast of the show in its second season the following year.

Despite her reality T.V. fame, she has remained devoted to her career. She continues to practice dentistry at several clinics, including Smiles by Dr. Heavenly. She is a member of many dentistry governing bodies, namely the Georgia Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and The Academy of General Dentistry. Not being content with being just an incredible dentist and published author, she is also a motivational speaker and has an entrepreneurship curriculum called Dr. Heavenly University. She met Dr. Damon Kimes while studying at Meharry Medical College. They have been married for nearly 20 years and have three kids.
