He has had a love of dance and music since he was little. He started his career in a church choir before joining Pledis Entertainment, an entertainment organization in South Korea. He would frequently play cover songs of then-current hits while in training. He has also worked on a solo music project with the rapper, Kisum. Let’s celebrate his special day here.
Joshua Hong was born on December 30, 1995, in Los Angeles, California. He holds dual citizenship in South Korea and the United States. He is of Asian descent and a Capricorn by birth. He moved from his native Los Angeles to South Korea to start his career since he had always wanted to be a singer. Being an only child, he was raised with a lot of love and affection. When he was a little child, he frequently went to church and sang in the choir. Around this time, he realized what he wanted to achieve in life. He started singing as a member of the church’s Praise Team and joined the choir. Hong started getting compliments for his soulful performances because people appreciated his voice. After completing his high school studies, he trained in Seoul with his members for two years and two months before their 2015 debut.
Hong’s professional career began when he was chosen to join the boy band Seventeen as a part of the vocal section. He debuted in the show’s online broadcasts in 2013, along with the other 12 contestants. The group debuted on MBC on May 26, 2015, with an hour-long special presentation. They released their first E.P., “17 Carat,” three days later. It was the only debut album on Billboard’s list of the ‘10 Best K-Pop Albums of 2015.’ Even in the United States, it had the highest K-pop album chart position. They released their second E.P., “Boys Be,” on September 10, 2015, and it quickly rose to the top of sales charts, garnering numerous awards. Their fame grew in 2016 with the release of their first full-length album, “Love & Letter.” After their 2019 album “You Made My Dawn” was released, Hong and his group experienced tremendous K-Pop popularity. The album’s lead single, “Home,” is regarded as their most well-liked release. On August 5, 2020, they launched the digital single ‘Hit,’ which helped them win their first major award for ‘Album of the Year.’ They released the lead single off their second unique album, “Semicolon,” on October 19, 2021. They released ‘Not Alone,’ their third Japanese single, on April 21, 2021. On October 22, 2021, they released “Attacca,” their ninth E.P., with the lead hit ‘Rock With You.’
Hong is currently single and since he seems to be more focused on his career, he is not dating anyone.
On May 29, Hong's South Korean boy group Seventeen releases "17 Carat," their debut extended play which sells 82,972+ copies in South Korea and peaks at number four on the Korean Gaon and number eight on the U.S. World Billboard Chart.

Following the release of their album, "You Made My Dawn," which features ‘Home,’ the album's title track, Hong and his group experience enormous K-Pop popularity.
