Background

De’Aaron Martez Fox was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. His father is Aaron Fox and his mother is Lorraine Fox. Quentin Fox is his only brother. Fox represents the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association as a professional basketball player from the United States. He represented the Kentucky Wildcats in collegiate basketball before being chosen fifth overall by the Kings in the 2017 NBA Draft. Fox studied at Texas’ Cypress Lakes High School. He joined Houston Hoops in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Circuit during the summer. Fox participated in the 2016 McDonald’s All-American Game. He also participated in the 2016 Jordan Brand Classic and helped the East Squad win 131–117. He was named Co-M.V.P. alongside Kentucky teammate Malik Monk. Afterward, he continued achieving records with his team.

Fox declared that he would skip his remaining three years of college eligibility and join the 2017 N.B.A. Draft after his rookie season. The Sacramento Kings selected Fox as the fifth overall choice. He signed his rookie-scale deal with the Kings on July 8, 2017. On October 18, 2017, the Kings’ season-opening game against the Houston Rockets saw Fox make his N.B.A. debut for the team. He was chosen as Lonzo Ball’s substitute for the Rising Stars Challenge on February 14. After LeBron James in 2005, he was the only player to record a 30-point triple-double before turning 21.

In the 2018 — 2019 season, he also placed in the top three and was nominated for the N.B.A. ‘Most Improved Player’ Award after coming in second to Pascal Siakam. Fox won the Western Conference Player of the Week award for the first time on February 8, 2021. Fox came under fire in February 2022 after he shut down his personal N.F.T. project called “SwipaTheFox,” which had more than $1.5 million in unpaid investments from roughly 100,000 investors. Fox provided an explanation for his choice in a Twitter thread, claiming he was suspending the project until the conclusion of the N.B.A. season because he was dissatisfied with its quality thus far. Fox did not respond to critics who wanted a refund of their payment. Fox has a kid with his girlfriend Recee Caldwell named Kai.
