National Olaplex Day is celebrated on 25 June every year since 2020. The day celebrates Olaplex which is a hair treatment that strengthens hair. The brand has grown to include millions of followers worldwide. The main ingredient in Olaplex is Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. Along with improving hair strength, protecting it from within, and providing immediate results, Olaplex also makes hair color radiant, brighter, and more vibrant. The brand comprises seven products; two are strictly for professional use at the salon while the other five can be used at home. While Olaplex products are especially good for color-treated hair which needs some care, it works just as well with regular hair.
History of National Olaplex Day
In 2014 Dr. Craig Hawker from the University of California in Santa Barbara was approached by the founders of Olaplex, Dean and Darcy Christa, who requested he attempt to develop a treatment that protects and repairs hair from damage. Dean Christa had a long history in the beauty industry. His mother was a licensed hairdresser who ran a salon out of their home while his father was a beauty distributor owning 26 stores. He was very in tune with the needs of professional hairdressers.
Dr. Hawker was successful, and the patented ingredient was introduced to the hair industry in the latter half of 2014. It gave hairdressers the ability to repair damaged hair while being able to be very innovative with their hair coloring, often achieving results not obtainable without it. The product repairs the hair at the molecular level, which has never been done before. Now hair products actually do rebuild and strengthen hair.
The revolutionary treatment, Olaplex, has gained popularity worldwide among salon owners and hairstylists and in just five years the company has become one of the largest haircare brands in the world. The brand created a completely new category of haircare called “bond-building” and is the only patented true bond builder in the market. Olaplex has over 100 worldwide patents and is one of the largest independent hair care brands in the world.
