History of International Day of Awesomeness

The word ‘awesomeness’ has many positive meanings. For example, it may refer to a remarkable quality in a person’s personality. At the same time, it denotes a quality that inspires others’ awe. As a result, it’s no surprise that this term is overused nowadays.

International Day of Awesomeness is a fun event that manages to spread positivity because it is held at a time of year that focuses on celebrating awesome people. You might wonder how someone becomes awesome. Well, an awesome person is someone who is impressive, terrifying, or inspiring. This is the story of how the day came to be.

The International Day of Awesomeness was first observed in 2008 by Kevin Lawver, the day’s creator. Lawver came up with the idea for this celebration while working with an intern named Freddie Maneiro. The intern had suggested that “Lawver’s awesomeness needs to be celebrated,” so the day was announced on Twitter. Since then, the trend has gained traction and is now celebrated on a global scale. Furthermore, Dan Lurie polished the concept by coming up with the catchy tagline, “Because everyone needs an excuse to be awesome.”
Later on, Lawver’s daughter also came up with an inspirational new tagline, “No one’s perfect, but everyone can be awesome.”

The date was also chosen because it falls on Chuck Norris’s birthday — a man who is renowned for his awesomeness! So, regardless of who you are or what you do, use this day to pat yourself for simply existing and being awesome!
