Tommy Sotomayor

Background

Tommy Sotomayor was born Thomas Jerome Harris on December 11, 1975. He is a YouTube content creator from the U.S., and he is a men’s rights activist, social and political commentator, and comedian known for his highly controversial opinions and content. Sotomayor was born in Georgia and moved to Arizona as an adult. He created his YouTube channel, MrMadness Sotomayor, in July 2012.

Soon after, he began to gain a loyal following as his content groups with deeply conservative views. Sotomayor gained notoriety for criticizing black women, the Black Lives Matter movement, and gay rights activism. There was a Change.org petition in April 2017 that proposed that Sotomayor’s channel be banned. Although the petition failed, his channel went down numerous times over the years. Although some of his associated channels have not been shut down, he has managed to get his main channel back on the air. It currently has about 300,000 subscribers and about 300,000 views. He appeared in a comedy movie called “Drugs & Other Love” in the year 2016. Furthermore, Sotomayor also produced and directed the documentary “A Fatherless America,” released in the same year.

In the summer of 2016, a video from the night of the Dallas shooting showed two officers on duty calling fellow officers cowards on the “Your World, My View Podcast” podcast hosted by Sotomayor. Both officers called the podcast while their fellow officers were driving to the scene of the shooting and responding to other police calls. The two officers from the North Dallas Patrol continued to espouse controversial views about the police shootings, along with Sotomayor.
