Jill Zarin was born in Woodmere, New York, U.S., to a Jewish American Family. Her mother, Gloria Kamen, was a stay-at-home mom. Her father, Sol Kamen, worked as a businessperson. She also has a sister named Lisa Wexler. Wexler works as an attorney and an author.

Growing up, she attended Lawrence High School and completed her early education at the institution. She then went to Simmons College, which is located in Boston, Massachusetts. Thereafter, she decided to tie the knot and got married to Steven Shapiro. Shapiro is the owner of the N.Y.C. Seminar and Conference Center.
