He was born and raised in Aldershot, England, with his parents and two siblings. After high school, DanTDM attended the University of Northampton, where he studied music production. In 2012, DanTDM began his online gaming career with the YouTube channel “TheDiamondMinecart,” later changed to “TheDiamondMinecart // DanTDM,” and then finally, “DanTDM.”

In 2013, DanTDM married his longtime girlfriend, Jemma.
