Since it’s his birthday this month, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to tell you about his young but fruitful career. December 15, 1991
Daniel Ezra, born December 15, 1991, is a British actor born in Birmingham, England. He is of Jamaican descent because both his father and mother were born on the island. Ezra’s story does not begin like so many children who know their vocation is acting from the time they understand how to express themselves in their early years. He was more inspired and interested in other subjects. Reading and sports were the pillars of his early academic years. However, when he turned 18, this changed. His first incursions into acting came from the hand of the genius among the geniuses of drama, William Shakespeare. He played different roles in “Romeo and Juliet” and “Twelfth Night.” These first projects were already enough to demonstrate his talent and become notorious for winning the Ian Charleson Award.
2015 was a significant year for Ezra’s career; he made his professional debut in a small English movie that aimed to educate young people about domestic abuse. He was also part of the cast of “Prey” and “The Investitures of Vera” in the same year. A few months later, in 2016, he began filming the mini-series “Undercover.” Finally, in 2018 he gave a twist to the theme of the productions in which he was involved when he accepted to be part of the series “Discovery of Witches,” ultimately part of the fantasy world, thus moving away from the drama and mystery genre. Ezra had only been part of English productions up to that moment of his career, but the jump to the other side of the pond would come very soon.
His first North American part occurred when the C.W. offered him the series’ “All Americans” lead role in the sports drama. Spencer Paysinger, a linebacker for the New York Giants who served as inspiration for the series’ main character, is brought to life by Ezra. The fourth season of the television series has just begun.
The B.B.C.’s "Murdered by my Boyfriend" is Ezra’s first approach to acting behind the scenes and not in a theater.
Ezra earns roles in well-known B.B.C. dramas like “The Missing” and “Undercover'” as Daniel Reed and Dan Johnson, respectively.
Ezra lands a recurring role as Nathaniel Wilson in the T.V. drama series “A Discovery of Witches.”
Ezra joins the cast of “All American,” marking his debut in the United States.
