Why We Love National Jumping Spider Appreciation Day
They protect us.
Jumping spiders are responsible for the elimination of countless disease carrying insects. By reducing the population of these insects, they help reduce the chance of diseases such as malaria or other blood-borne pathogens from being spread.
They teach us.
So much is, and can be learned about these amazing creatures. Large institutions, including Harvard University, have done studies with jumping spiders to find that they may have the most keen vision known to man, and they have even have dreams.
They bring joy.
Many that have encountered these amazing creatures have come to find how social and affectionate they can be. Just like any other pet, they can be raised in captivity and can develop a bond with their owner, no different than a cat or a dog.
