Background

Olive Marie Osmond, most famously known as Marie Osmond, is an American personality that wears many hats. She’s a singer, actress, author, philanthropist, and talk show host, born on October 13, 1959, in Ogden, Utah, as the eighth of nine children. She was the only daughter of her mother, Olive May, and her father, George Virl Osmond. Her family was in show business, and her brothers performed on national television from an early age. Osmond made her debut as part of ‘The Osmond Brothers’ on The Andy Williams Show at four years old, but later on, she never participated much in it.

In 1973, following her mother’s advice, Osmond recorded and released her debut single as a solo artist, ‘Paper Roses.’ The single quickly became a number one country hit. Her sophomore album, “In My Little Corner of the World,” followed suit in 1974, and the third, “Who’s Sorry Now,” in 1975. The following year, she and her brother, Donny, began hosting ”Donny & Marie” on ABC. The show ran until 1978 and was later renamed “The Osmond Family Hour.”

In 1977, the singer released her fourth studio album, “This is the Way That I Feel.” Its style leaned more toward Pop than Country, a different approach than she had been working with. Her next album, “There’s No Stopping Your Heart,” dropped in 1985. Osmond has released 11 solo studio albums, with “Unexpected” being her most recent one, released in 2021. Her film and T.V. career feature several productions. In 1995, she played Julia Wallace in the sitcom “Maybe This Time.” By 2012, Osmond debuted a variety show, “Marie,” on Hallmark Channel. From 2013 to 2019, Osmond appeared in over 90 episodes of “The Talk.”

As a woman of such success, Osmond’s personal life is quite public. She has been married thrice, twice to the same man, Stephen Lyle Craig. The pair re-married in 2011 and have been married since. Osmond has eight children and shares her success with her friends and family.
