Lia Marie Johnson

Background

Johnson was born in Wahiawa, Hawaii, and grew up with four sisters and a brother. Her family later moved to California. Her YouTube account was created in 2007 but was controlled by her mother, who posted videos of Johnson’s performances at talent shows and church recitals. She gained control of the output of that channel in 2009. She began uploading sketch comedy, commentary, covers, and musical performances. The following year, she began her association with the Fine Bros. and appeared in their “Kids React” series, which catapulted her into public recognition. The following year, Johnson was added to the cast of “Teens React” and three years later was moved to “YouTubers React.”

Between 2013 and 2014, Johnson appeared on the Nickelodeon sketch comedy series “AwesomenessTV,” the following year, she starred in a spin-off film based on her character Terry called “Terry the Tomboy.” Between 2016 and 2018, she appeared in the web series “T@gged.”

In 2015, Johnson released her first single, ‘Moment Like You,’ and a music video. She also appeared in Post Malone’s “Go Flex” music video in 2016. That same year, Johnson announced that she had signed to Capitol Records and worked on her debut album. She released ‘D.N.A.’ in October 2016 and ‘Cold Hearted Killer’ in January 2017. A year later, she released ‘Champagne.’ 2019 saw the releases of singles ‘Moonflower’ and ‘Like a God.’ Johnson released ‘Lifts’ and ‘Venus Sunrise’ in 2021. After four years of no uploads, she also began posting on her YouTube channel.
