Lalisa Manoban, aka Lisa, was born on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand. The only child of Thai national Chitthip Brüschweiler, Manoban was raised by her mother and Swiss stepfather, Marco Brüschweiler. The megastar showed an interest in performing at a very young age, taking dance classes as a four-year-old toddler and eventually progressing to dance contests. Her passion for the arts could be felt from a young age, as she dabbled in singing, dancing, and performance, always knowing that K-pop was the path she wished to follow.
In 2010, Manoban relocated to South Korea to become a trainee with a multinational company, YG Entertainment, and became one of the first non-Koreans to take part in the program with the company. While she featured as a background dancer in music videos and later took on modeling gigs for a few brands, in 2015, it was her debut as part of the South Korean girl band, Blackpink, 2016, that put the Thai dynamo on the map. Over the next few years, Manoban rose through the ranks of Blackpink and released her own YouTube channel, “Lilifilm Official,” which gave her fans access to lifestyle, travel, and dance performance content. She continued to pursue modeling alongside her quick rise to musical fame, becoming a global ambassador for French luxury label, Celine, and soon after that she became an ambassador for Italian luxury magnate, Bulgari (2020). 2021 proved to be a year of achievements for Manoban as she kicked it off by being appointed French fashion awards, ANDAM’s guest juror.
That same year, she collaborated with Mac to launch her make-up collection dubbed “MAC x L. Manoban also made her solo debut with her first music video for “Lalisa” garnering over 73.6 million views within 24 hours — breaking Taylor Swift’s record for “ME,” which was watched by 65.2 million viewers within 24 hours. The single, which debuted at number two on the Billboard Global 200, catapulted Manoban to stardom, with her album selling a record-breaking 736,221 copies in the Korean market in its first week. The Thai rapper is one of the few female artists to have reached such staggering sales numbers in Korea. Another single from the album “Lalisa,” “Money,” reached number ten on the Billboard Global 200, thus solidifying her rise to fame.
Later that year, Manoban released “SG,” a collaboration with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Megan Thee Stallion, in which she was credited for songwriting and composing. It reached number two on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart in the United States. With 75.5 million fans on her Instagram alone, Manoban’s love life has been successfully kept under wraps. She is, however, currently single.
