Armin van Buuren

Background

Armin Jozef Jacobus Daniel van Buuren is a well-known Dutch D.J. and record producer whose talents have earned him success. He was born on December 25, 1976, in Leiden, Netherlands. However, Van Burren grew up in Koudekerk aan den Rijn. He graduated from Stedelijk Gymnasium, Leiden, and then studied law at Leiden University, where he began working as a D.J. in Club Nexus. Van Buuren put his law degree on hold as his D.J.ing career began to take off.

In 1996, Van Buuren released an E.P., “Push,” with Timeless Records. In 1999, he created his record label, Armind, with United Recordings. In 2000, Van Buuren made his mix of progressive house and vocal trance music with the compilation album “A State of Trance.” Van Buuren dropped his third album, “In Motion,” in August 2001; the fourth, “Transparence,” dropped in 2002. That year, he received a residency at Glow in Washington D.C. and deejayed across North America. The following year, Van Buuren worked with D.J. Seth Alan Fannin and sold-out shows of 20,000 people in the Netherlands. In 2007, DJ Mag elected him the best D.J. in the world. In 2015, Van Buuren released his fifth studio album, “Intense.” The song ‘This is What It Feels Like’ from this album was nominated for a Grammy for ‘Best Dance Recording.’ In 2017, Van Buuren performed on the Heineken stage in Shanghai at the first ‘Formula 1’ festival. In October 2019, he released “Balance,” his seventh studio album.

Van Buuren is a phenomenal D.J. and record producer. As someone of such caliber, he keeps his personal affairs private. He married Erika van Thiel in September 2009, and they have two kids.
