National Climate-Smart Skin Awareness Day – June 28, 2025

Climate-Smart Skin Awareness Day is observed on June 28 every year. The holiday was established by Pour Moi Skincare in June 2021. The purpose of Climate-Smart Skin Awareness Day is to draw attention to new medical research that suggests that local climates and weather have radically different effects on the health and appearance of our skin. As a result, people are being urged to make more informed decisions about how to care for their skin in the climates in which they live and travel.

History of National Climate-Smart Skin Awareness Day

National Climate-Smart Skin Awareness day has two historical significance. On June 28, 1870, Joseph Henry, the Father of Global Weather Forecasting and the first director of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., testified before a British Parliamentary Commission in London about the Smithsonian’s purpose and operations. The U.S. Meteorological Service was established that year at Joseph Henry’s request, and its large-scale scientific weather data was supplied to the U.S. federal government.

Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, a world-renowned Indian scientist, and statistician, died on June 28, 1972, in the global science community. In meteorology, anthropology, and biology, he pioneered the first techniques for conducting large-scale sample surveys. His method is still used in modern medical studies to better understand how the environment affects the human body.

Pour Moi Skincare established National Climate-Smart Skin Awareness Day in June 2021. Pour Moi Skincare is the world’s first beauty firm to create climate-specific products that match skincare to the weather for optimal results. The company, which was founded by European beauty expert Ulli Haslacher, her husband Frank Assumma, and business veteran John Bowlin, has its own climate-controlled warehouse and pick-pack facility. The day was created to raise awareness about the complex relationship that exists between skin and one’s local climate and weather. Most people nowadays assume that your skin’s appearance and health are completely determined by your D.N.A. or demographics such as skin type, gender, age, or ethnicity, yet this belief is outdated.

Why National Climate-Smart Skin Awareness Day is Important

  1. It creates awareness

  2. It promotes a healthy skincare routine

You shed skin cells throughout the day, so it's critical to keep your skin glowing and healthy. A good skincare routine can help you avoid acne, treat wrinkles, and keep your skin looking great.
