History of National Caroline Day

Caroline is a French variant of ‘Carolus.’ This is a Latin name derived from the Germanic name Karl, meaning ‘warrior.’ Karolina, Karrie, Carol, and Charles — the latter of which is a masculine variation of the name — are the most prevalent variants of Caroline. Carolines are usually found in European countries like France and Belgium, but also the United States. For a time, it was also popular in Denmark.

Caroline is a name that most people would describe as having formal and refined energy. Many celebrities bear the name Caroline — television host and actress Caroline Flack, American singer-songwriter Caroline Polachek, and jazz singer Caroline Henderson are just a few of them

Caroline is also a name found in some works of fiction. Caroline Forbes is one of the main characters in the television show “The Vampire Diaries.” It’s also the name of one of the characters in Jane Austen’s work “Pride and Prejudice” — Caroline Bingley.
