Rhett McLaughlin

Background

Rhett McLaughlin was born on October 11, 1977, in Macon, Georgia. When he was three years old, his family moved to Thousand Oaks, California, until he was about five years old. After that, in 1984, they moved once more to Buies Creek, North Carolina. Here, McLaughlin’s father became a law professor at Campbell University. He has been married to Jessie McLaughlin since 2001 and they have two children named Locke and Shepherd. He graduated from Harnett Central in Angier, N.C. in 1996, and he has a degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University.

McLaughlin is a producer and writer known for “Good Mythical Morning,”
“The Mythical Show,” and “Looking for Ms. Locklear.” He co-hosts “Good Mythical Morning” with Charles Lincoln “Link” Neal III and together they form the comedy duo known as Rhett & Link. The duo has a fandom by the name of “Mythical Beasts” and they have been best friends since first grade. These best friends went through high school and college together and they quit their engineering jobs to make videos together full-time. By the time they were 14, the duo had already written a screenplay together and they created their first YouTube channel in 2006 which has gained over four million subscribers since then. In 2008, they started the “Good Mythical Morning” YouTube channel, which has over 17 million subscribers to date. The channel revolves around McLaughlin and Link trying out and rating various products. In 2009, the duo established a production company that produces online videos, television shows, podcasts, books, recorded music, and live tours, as well as merchandise.

McLaughlin has made an impact in the lives of his fans through his comical and entertaining videos, and he and Link continue to grow as celebrities.
