Regé-Jean Page

Background

Regé-Jean Page was born in London, England on January 24th, 1988 into a Christian home. His mother is a Zimbabwean nurse and his father is an English preacher. Page went to school in Harare, Zimbabwe when he was a young boy, expressing how his time in Zimbabwe was some of the most precious memories he’ll have, when Page was around seven years old he moved back to London to complete his education. He took classes at the National Youth Theater and began his studies at the Drama Center London where he graduated in 2013.

Page has three other siblings, including Tose Page, who is his only publicly named brother. In an interview with “Interview Magazine,” he discusses his childhood and how his family is spread out throughout the world, saying that he has family in South Africa, Australia, Sweden, Grenada, and Florida.

Before his role as the Duke of Hastings in “Bridgerton,” Page played the role of Chicken George in the 2016 remake of the 1977 drama mini-series called “Roots” which explores the routes of slavery made in the U.S.A., Page makes his appearance in Part Three of the mini-series.

The T.V. miniseries “Roots” sparked Page’s career into the serious roles we see him in today. Page began gaining large masses of fame with his role as the steamy Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings in season one of the Netflix drama period series “Bridgerton” (2020). The actor won the Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in a Drama Series in 2021.
