Background

Nick Chubb, a professional American footballer for the N.F.L. Cleveland Browns, was born on December 27, 1995, in Cedartown, Georgia. Chubb began practicing football during high school, where he rushed 2,721 yards and 38 touchdowns in his junior year. He ended his senior year with 2,690 yards and 41 touchdowns. His exceptional performance on the field led to his ranking as a four-star recruit. In 2013, he began playing college football for the University of Georgia, where he played as a starter.

In 2014, at the Belk Bowl against Louisville, Chubb broke the bowl game record with 266 rushing yards and was named the Belk Bowl M.V.P. By the end of his freshman season, the young M.V.P. had rushed 1,547 yards.

The 2015 season started off well for Chubb; unfortunately, the talented football player sustained a knee injury that ruled him out for the season. Upon his return in 2016, he played the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, rushing 222 yards and two touchdowns against the North Carolina football team. After two victories, Chubb was benched again for five games because of an ankle injury. In 2017, instead of entering the N.F.L. Draft, he continued his senior season with the college team, where he amassed 1,345 yards on 223 carries, with 15 touchdowns.

Finally, in 2018, he entered the N.F.L. Draft with the Cleveland Browns professional football team as a running back. He signed his first deal, a four-year rookie deal of over $7 million, with a $3.5 million signing bonus. What a great start! The rookie made his N.F.L. debut in a season-opening 21 – 21 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers, with three carries for 21 yards. Chubb became the fourth player in N.F.L. history to break 100 rushing yards on three or fewer carries. By October 2018, he was named the full-time starter. Chubbs finished his rookie year with 192 carries for 996 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, with 20 receptions for 149 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

In the 2019 season, Chubb was named ‘AFC Offensive Player of the Week,’ finishing off the season with a fair amount of losses and wins, 1,494 rushing yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 36 receptions for 278 yards. Chubb’s 2020 season kicked off with two wins by week three; however, by week four, he suffered an M.C.L. injury that kept him on the bench until the 10th week of the season. Upon his return, Chubb played against the Houston Texans and recorded 19 carries for 126 yards and a rushing touchdown. In 2021, the professional footballer signed a three-year, $36.6 million contract extension with Cleveland Browns and was one of five Cleveland Browns players to be selected for the N.F.L. Pro Bowl.
