Background

Maddie Ziegler made a name for herself in the entertainment industry at the age of eight and has not looked back since. This young achiever was born Madison Nicole Ziegler on September 30, 2002, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, to Melissa Ziegler-Gisoni and Kurt Ziegler. She began dancing when she was two years old, starting with ballet. At four years old, Ziegler joined the Abby Lee Dance Company, where she learned tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, acro, jazz, and ariel dancing. While with the dance company, Ziegler won several regional, state, and national dance competitions.

Ziegler’s big break came in 2011 when she first appeared in “Dance Moms” alongside her mother and sister, where she was dubbed a preternaturally polished standout for six seasons. At 11 years, she began dancing in music videos, notably Sia’s “Chandelier” (2014). The video blew up, garnering two billion views on YouTube and winning many awards. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award in 2015. The dancer collaborated and appeared in more music videos by Sia, such as “Cheap Thrills” (2016) and “The Greatest” (2016).

In 2012, Zeigler landed her first acting role in the Lifetime series “Drop Dead Diva.” In 2015, she guest-starred in more T.V. shows, namely Disney’s “Austin and Ally” and ABC drama “Pretty Little Liars.” Zeigler also starred in films such as the 2021 “The Fallout,” which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Narrative Feature Film competition. Zeigler’s latest film role was in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story,” also released in 2021.

In addition to dancing and acting, Ziegler released a fashion line, The Maddie & Mackenzie Collection, with her sister in 2014. Ziegler was a correspondent for “Elle” at the New York Fashion Week in 2015. In 2020, she launched ‘The Imagination Collection,’ a make-up line, in collaboration with Morphe Cosmetics. Ziegler has contributed to many charitable causes, ranging from raising awareness for chronic illnesses to campaigning to help rescue dogs. She has been in a relationship with singer-songwriter Eddie Benjamin since 2019 and has over 13 million followers on her Instagram account.
