David Cronenberg’s version of the classic horror film “The Fly” reunited the pair. Goldblum’s performance as a scientist who endures a terrible physical and psychological metamorphosis was praised by critics and audiences. In “Earth Girls Are Easy,” Davis and Goldblum reunited for the second time in a vividly colored alien comedy in 1989. They divorced in 1990, but they’ve been close friends ever since. Goldblum starred with Will Smith as a world-saving computer genius in “Independence Day 1996” sci-fi/action movie. For his contribution to the film, he was nominated for an Academy Award for the live-action short film “Little Surprises” in 1990. Overall, the picture brought in over $800 million.
