Korean-American musician Park Jae-beom, popularly known as Jay Park, was born on April 25, 1987. He was brought up in Edmonds, Washington by his parents Mi-Jung Choi and Yong-jun Park. His biggest claim to fame is being the lead member of the Korean pop boy group, 2PM. He not only produces his own music but has also launched his leading music labels in South Korea under the names A.O.M.G. and H1GHR MUSIC.
Jae-beom Park, more popularly known as Jay Park, is a Korean-American rapper, record producer, dancer, and singer-songwriter. He attended Edmonds Woodway and has stated that he listened to a lot of rap music in his early years, spending time writing and rapping songs during high school. Park became a member of the b-boy crew Art of Movement in 2003. He eventually went on to join the Korean boy group 2PM as the lead. Park first became famous as 2PM’s lead singer, which led him to return to Korea in June 2010 for the filming of “Hype Nation,” a 2014 drama film. In July 2010, he signed up with SidusHQ, one of the largest entertainment industries in South Korea, to start his solo career as a singer and rapper.
Park completed his university education at Dankook University. During that time, he was also selected by J.Y.P. Entertainment, where he trained in dancing, rapping, singing, and Korean. His first E.P., “Count on Me” was at the top of the charts in Korea on its release, following his mini-album “Take a Deeper Look,” which charted at number three on the Billboard World Albums chart.
Park joins the Korean boy group 2PM as the leader, and they debut with the hit song ‘10 out of 10.’
Park gets involved in a controversy involving some leaked messages from his MySpace account, which ultimately causes him to leave 2PM.
After moving back to the US, Parker opens a YouTube account and uploads a video of his version of ‘Nothin’ on You,’ which goes viral in less than 24 hours, reaching over 2,000,000 views.
The singer is invited to the Mashable Awards, where he wins the Best Web category and is nominated for the Must Follow Personality category.
Park drops his first full-length album “New Breed.”
Park creates his own record label, H1GHR Music, with producer Cha Cha Malone in the hopes of bringing South Korean talent to the forefront of hip-hop culture in both the US and Korea.
