Francisco Miguel Lindor is a Puerto Rican professional baseball player born on November 14, 1993, in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He plays as a shortstop for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball. He is the third son out of four children to his father Miguel Lindor and his mother Maria Serrano. Lindor began playing baseball when he was a child and would often practice with his father. When he was 12, he moved to Florida with his father, stepmother, and one sibling. In Florida, he attended Montverde Academy school.

Lindor’s professional baseball career began in 2011 when he was 18 years old after he signed with the Cleveland Indians professional baseball team. He appeared in five games with the New York-Penn League, making him the 32nd best prospect in baseball before the 2012 season. He started the season off by playing in Major League Baseball’s All-Star Future Games for the Lake County Captains and ended the season with a successful 122 games. For the 2013 season, he played with the Carolina Mudcats of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League before being promoted to the Akron Aeros of the Class A.A. Eastern League later that year.

In 2014, the Indians promoted him to the Columbus Clippers of the Class A.A.A. International League and proceeded into the 2015 season with this team. Recording his first major league hit, he won the ‘American League Rookie of the Month’ award in September 2015 and finished the season off with a 313 batting average, 12 home runs, 51 R.B.I.’s, 12 stolen bases, and 22 doubles in 99 games. Ending the 2016 season off triumphantly with 158 games, Lindor won his first ‘Golden Glove’ award and first ‘Platinum Glove’ award, besides winning the ‘Best Defensive Player’ award that year.

In the years following 2016, Lindor continued to make history on the baseball field and won his second ‘Gold Glove Award’ in 2019. In 2021, his season with the Cleveland Indians team ended after he was traded to the New York Mets with whom he signed a 10-year deal worth $341 million. Although the 2021 season in his new team started on a rocky patch, Lindor quickly picked up and ended the season off with a 230 batting average, 20 home runs, and 10 stolen bases with 125 games. In 2022, he was named the ‘National League Player of the Week.’ Apart from being a legendary baseball player, Lindor is also a husband and father! He tied the knot with Katie Reguero, a professional violinist, in 2021, and the newlyweds had just recently welcomed their baby girl into the world!
