Andre was born on April 4, 1983, in Boca Raton, Florida. He has an Afro-Haitian immigrant father and an American Ashkenazi Jewish mother. His father was a professional psychiatrist. His mother was from the Upper West Side of New York City’s Manhattan borough. In 2001, Andre enrolled at Berklee College of Music in Boston after he graduated from Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida. At Berklee College of Music, He played the double bass and graduated with a bachelor’s in music in 2005.

He debuted his career in comedy in 2003, doing mostly stand-up comedy. In 2012, he created “The Eric Andre Show” in which he doubles as a co-writer and the host. He got cast as “Mike” on the FXX comedy series “Man Seeking Woman” which ran from 2015 to 2017. Also in 2015, he became the first man ever to have ridden the “Sybian” on a live broadcast, on SiriusXM with Howard Stern.

Andre is also a voice actor and in 2019, he voiced “Azizi”, in the remake of “The Lion King.” In 2020, he voiced “Luci” in “Disenchantment,” a Netflix animated show. In the same year, he released his first stand-up special on Netflix dubbed, “Legalize Everything.” In 2021, he featured in “Bad Trip,” a prank comedy film on Netflix.
