In her youth, Ford attended Holton-Arms School and graduated in 1984. Later, she got a degree in experimental psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988. Ford earned her clinical psychology master’s degree from Pepperdine University in 1991, and by 1996 she received a Ph.D. in educational psychology from U.S.C. In 2009, Ford earned a master’s in epidemiology from Stanford University School of Medicine.

She became a psychology professor at P.G.S.P.-Stanford in 2011, joining a collaborative program between Palo Alto University and Stanford. Ford is a highly versatile educator who teaches subjects like psychometrics, study methodologies, statistics, and clinical trials to doctoral students while serving on dissertation committees. She has worked with Corcept Therapeutics as a director of biostatistics and for Titan Pharmaceuticals as a biostatistical consultant. Ford is highly achieved in her field and has published several educational materials and books. While she’s a highly-revered academic, Ford rose to fame when she accused Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault in July 2018. According to her, Kavanaugh had assaulted her when they were in high school. Kavanaugh was at the time reported to be on President Trump’s shortlist for an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. After Trump nominated Kavanaugh, Ford took a polygraph test in August to prove the accuracy of her allegations. The case was highly publicized as President Trump attacked Ford and claimed her allegations were false. After a court hearing and several investigations, Ford’s testimony was termed “flawed” with several inconsistencies. By 2018, the Senate confirmed Kavanaugh’s nomination.

Following the death threats, Ford received because of her testimony against Kavanaugh, her husband and her two sons had to move four times and even hire private security. Until then, she hadn’t been able to resume her work at Palo Alto University.
