Background
Alexander Freitas was born in Montreal, Canada, on January 23, 1990, and has Brazilian ancestry. Tommy Rose, his father, was a successful wrestler and trained him too. Freitas debuted for ‘Paul LeDuc’s FLQ’ promotion in 2004. In the beginning, Freitas took on the ring name ‘Sean Simmons’ and soon began wrestling under the name ‘Alex Silva’. For the next few years, he wrestled mainly in Quebec. At the age of 16, he ventured into the U.S. to wrestle in places like Hawaii, Atlanta, Wisconsin, and Chicago. Silva won the ‘CRW Quebec Championship’ on March 15, 2009, by defeating Twister. On November 17, 2010, he made his debut in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW).
He won the ‘OVW Television Championship’ on December 11, by defeating Mohamad Ali Vaez. This victory made him the youngest Television Champion in the promotion’s history and he held the championship for 46 days before losing it. Silva made his debut for TOW Wrestling in December 2013, which was an independent promotion based in Montreal, Quebec. He wrestled twice and defeated Volkano and “Surfer” Mitch Thompson. Silva has made regular appearances for the ‘International Wrestling Syndicate’ since May 2014. Silva made his debut at ‘Top of the World Wrestling’ on July 29, 2014, and he defeated Buxx Belmar. He made his debut for ‘Capital City Championship Combat’ on November 27, 2014, and was defeated by Sebastian Suave. He is also an instructor at ‘Evolve Mixed Martial Arts’ in Singapore.
If it wasn’t for the number of challenges, he’s faced in his life, Silva might not have accomplished this much. He was several months premature and although he overcame the odds to survive, things were not trouble-free. Growing up, he was bullied for his small stature. However, he discovered martial arts through the films of Bruce Lee and soon took up classes such as kung fu and capoeira, and learned how to defend himself. But it wasn’t until the age of 13 that his life would change forever. On seeing himself defeating stronger opponents, ‘Little Rock’ pursued his new passion. He eventually won many tournaments and competitions and reached the very apex of the wrestling world. Today, he is a third-degree black belt and the World Champion in ONE Strawweight and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
