Background

Rebecca Quin was born on January 30, 1987, in Limerick, Republic of Ireland. She had a lifelong interest in wrestling as a child and used to watch wrestling matches with her brother. She and her brother joined a wrestling school run by Fergal Devitt and Paul Tracey when they both were 15. Quin made her professional debut as Rebecca Knox after five months of training. During the early stages of her career, she established a team with her brother in Mixed Tag Team matches and competed in Irish wrestling events. But she later expanded her arena and began competing on the European wrestling circuit.

Quin won the World Queens of Chaos Championship in 2006 after competing in the Queens of Chaos Promotion in France. That same year, she made her debut on the All-Women Shimmer Women Athletes, a Chicago-based independent women’s wrestling promotion. During a German Stampede Wrestling match on September 26, 2006, she suffered a serious injury above her eye. This caused a setback in her wrestling career, as she was forced to cancel the rest of the year’s contests. During this time, Quin pursued a career in acting and appeared in several plays between 2011 and 2012. She returned in 2011 as the manager of the mother-daughter tag team of Saraya and Britani Knight. In 2013, she joined W.W.E. and relocated to Florida to join their development zone N.X.T. During this time, she changed her ring name from Rebecca Knox to Becky Lynch and made her debut in November at an N.X.T. live event. She made her T.V. debut in an N.X.T. episode on June 26, 2014, and her main roster debut on July 13, 2015, on an episode of “Raw.”

Quin was the first woman drafted to the SmackDown brand during the 2016 W.W.E. draft, and on September 11, 2016, she became the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion. She successfully defended her title for 84 days. Quin then wrestled a title match in September 2018 and won the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the second time, setting a career record. She debuted on television in a 2013 episode of “Vikings,” and appeared in “The Marine 6: Close Quarters.” In January 2019, she began dating fellow professional wrestler Colby Lopez, better known as Seth Rollins. They had a daughter in December 2020.
