Background

Kim Yong-sun, popularly known as Solar, is a South Korean singer whose talents have set her apart from her peers. She’s a Pisces, born on February 21, 1991, in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Solar lived with her parents and sister. She attended Hanyang Women’s University and majored in tourism.

In June 2014, Solar debuted as a member and vocalist of Mamamoo. By 2015, she appeared in episodes two and five of the romance web drama “Imaginary Cat.” Solar played Jung Soo-In in this drama. In 2016, the singer appeared in the M.B.C. series “We Got Married” from episodes 316 to 348. Solar then debuted as a solo artist with the release of her debut solo E.P., “Solar’s Emotion,” in April 2018. In April 2019, she released her debut single as a solo artist, ‘Spit it Out.’ The same day the single dropped, Solar made her debut solo stage appearance on Mnet’s “M Countdown.”

In 2020, she was a cast member in “Boss in the Mirror” and appeared in 11 episodes of the show. Solar was only getting started, and in March 2022, she released her first mini album, which bore the lead single, ‘Honey.’ By April of the same year, she landed the title role of Mata Hari in the third season of the musical “Mata Hari.” Solar was also a D.J. Special for two weeks on Dream Radio in 2022.
