Paulina Rubio, born in Mexico City on June 17, 1971, is a Mexican singer, actress, presenter, model, businesswoman, and the daughter of Susana Dosamantes, a Mexican soap opera actor. Rubio started her career in the musical group Timbiriche in 1982, and 10 years later, she released her first solo album, “La Chica Dorada,” on the EMI Music label, followed by “24 Kilates.” Her subsequent albums, “El Tiempo es Oro” and “Planeta Paulina,” were commercial successes in Latin America. After a series of successful concerts and after ending her contract with EMI Latin, Rubio released “Paulina” in 2000, her fifth album and first with Universal Music Group, which is critically referred to as her best album. “Paulina” was an international success and made Rubio the best-selling Latin music artist of the Billboard Year-End (2001 to 2002).

Having an actress mother, Paulina Rubio lived with art from an early age. At just five years old, she already had singing, acting, jazz, painting, and dance classes at the renowned Mexican College of Arts, Centro de Educación Artística. She started her artistic career in the famous Mexican group Timbiriche. With Timbiriche, she recorded 11 albums and collaborated on the song ‘Vaselina,’ a Spanish adaptation of the movie “Grease.” In 1992, she released her first solo album, “La Chica Dorada,” on the EMI Music label, followed by “24 Kilates.” Her fifth album, “Paulina,” was released in 2000, her first work on her new label, Universal Music, which received multiple award nominations, a diamond disc, and sold 2.5 million copies worldwide.

Two years later, in 2002, Rubio released her first English-language album, “Border Girl,” which contains his biggest hit, ‘Don’t Say Goodbye.’ Her subsequent albums, “Pau-Latina” and “Ananda,” consolidated her internationally. Her ninth album released in 2009, “Gran City Pop,” has an original and fresh concept, and reflects Rubio’s life and her musical experiences. The singer’s latest album, “Brava!,” focuses on electronic genres mixed with Latin pop.

Rubio is considered one of the most influential Latin celebrities of all time. According to “E! Entertainment,” the singer is ranked 12th on the ‘25 Sexiest Pop Divas’ list.
