Patrick Mahomes II

Background

Patrick Lavon Mahomes II was born in Tyler, Texas, U.S., to Randi and Pat Mahomes. He is the oldest of three siblings, including a brother named Jackson and two sisters named Zoe and Mia. He attended Whitehouse High School in Texas. Growing up, Mahomes played basketball and baseball, alongside American football.

In his senior year, he managed to set an impressive record as a football player, which included 50 passing touchdowns, 15 rushing touchdowns, over 4,500 passing yards, and more than 900 rushing yards. Moreover, he was a proficient baseball player. After his graduation, the budding athlete enrolled at Texas Tech University. In 2014, Mahomes was also selected for the Detroit Tigers, but he forwent the opportunity in order to focus on football. Thus, he began his college football career against Oklahoma State University, wherein he played as a replacement for an injured quarterback. Thereafter, Mahomes faced off against the ‘Texas Longthorns’ in his first game as a starter. He continued to play as a starter for the subsequent three games of the season. Then, he began his sophomore season in the quarterback position and helped his team score a win in their first game of 2015.

Eventually, he became one of the ‘Kansas City Chiefs’ and was selected for the same in the first round of the draft. In July 2017, Mahomes bagged a $16.42 million contract with the team and made his debut as a starter. His first playoff game as a starting QB took place in 2019, where he helped the Chiefs win their first home playoff as well as compete in their first AFC Championship since 1993.
