Background

Oliver Sykes is from Kent, England and his parents are Ian and Carol Sykes. The family went to Australia soon after he was born, then they returned to their country when Sykes was eight years old and remained there permanently. He graduated from Stocksbridge High School. In 2003, he began to take his music career seriously and planned strategies to acquire a head start. He began releasing compilation CDs and little tracks under the alias “Quakebeat.” He and his brother Tom Sykes began singing in bands and acquired notoriety, which gave them enough confidence to pursue music as a full-time vocation.

Sykes entered the English music industry in 2001 with the establishment of his metal band, Bring Me the Horizon, a band that achieved immediate success due to their passionate alternative rock beats and presentation, which was novel at the time. Their demo album “Bedroom Sessions,” published in 2004, was well received by audiences, and they followed it up with an extended play, “This is What the Edge of Your Seat Was Made For,” before releasing their debut studio album, “Count Your Blessings,” in 2006. Sykes and his bandmates picked Sweden for the recording of their second studio album, “Suicide Season.” It was released in the U.S. and Europe in September 2008, and the band marketed it through touring and internet promotions. In November 2009, the band released a remixed version of their second studio album, which featured many notable musicians. However, early in 2009, their guitarist, Curtis Ward, quit for personal and professional reasons, putting the band’s future in peril. While the band searched for a new guitarist, tours and concerts continued as they tried out other guitarists. In 2010, the band released their third studio album, “There is a Hell Believe Me I have Seen it. There is a Heaven Let’s Keep It a Secret,” with an intriguing title. The album debuted at number one on the Australian Album List, number 17 on the Billboard 200, and number one on the U.K. Indie Chart. They rose to prominence as a result of their unconventional lyrics and flawlessly unique presentation technique.

Aside from music and concerts, Sykes began working on his long-held desire to launch his own clothing line, which he eventually completed under the moniker Drop Dead Clothing. It proved to be a somewhat profitable venture. He also had a talent for writing and drawing, as seen by his crowdfunding campaign for his graphic novel “Raised by Raptors.” In 2015, he married model and tattoo artist Hanna Pixie Snowdon, but the couple divorced a year later. He married Brazilian model Alissa Salls on July 22, 2017.
