Background

Arzaylea Rodriguez was born in the U.S. on October 19, 1994. She has a brother, Arzael, and a sister named Aliezah. Her father has long been involved in the music industry and introduced her to music when she was very little. Her family encouraged her to pursue music as a career and her childhood home was filled with musical instruments. She began working to support herself and her family. For a long period, she worked as a low-paid personal assistant in the city of Los Angeles. Rodriguez was also known for releasing her music videos on social media platforms which helped her gain prominence. Her Twitter and Tumblr profiles have been active since 2011.

She began dating Luke Hemmings, the guitarist for the band 5 Seconds of Summer, in 2015. The rumor of their relationship immediately spread among music lovers. People began to pay her more attention on social media once they realized she was also a blossoming artist. Despite her rapid popularity as a result of her involvement with Hemmings, many people questioned whether their love was genuine. Many critics of the relationship claimed she was only fame hungry and a gold digger. When she confessed that her relationship with Hemmings was difficult in the beginning, the negative attention she received was amplified. However, the uproar died down after she stated that they had mended their relationship and that they would remain together. They did, however, split in 2017. Before his death in November 2017, she dated rapper Lil Peep (Gustav Ahr).
