Amy Slaton

Background

Amy Slaton-Halterman was born on October 28, 1987, in Dixon, Kentucky, in the U.S. Her parents are Frank and Darlene Slaton. She has four siblings, among them, her sister Tammy Slaton. When Slaton was a child, the Slaton family had financial troubles — they lived in a poor neighborhood. Growing up, Slaton only ate fast food or charity food provided by the church her family attended. The lack of healthy meals gave Slaton and her sister severe health troubles — diabetes, asthma, thyroid disease, obesity, and blood pressure issues. Slaton had a hard childhood — she was verbally and psychologically abused by her parents and siblings. Eating was Slaton’s coping mechanism to deal with the anxiety and stress her poor childhood situation gave her.

In 2011, Slaton opened her YouTube Channel. She posted her first video a year later, in 2012, which was an introductory video along with her sister Tammy. Tammy participates in most of Slaton’s videos. Since the beginning of her YouTube career, Slaton has uploaded diverse content. She creates videos about makeup, routines, tutorials, food-related videos, challenges, and vlogs. Her first vlog video was uploaded in January 2014, and it was named “New Slaton Sister Vlog.” Slaton’s YouTube channel gained popularity over the years — as of 2022, it holds over 500,000 subscribers. In January 2020, the Slaton sisters starred in the TLC’s docu-series, “1,000-lb sisters.” The television show follows the sisters’ weight-loss journey.

When Salton was in high school, she started a relationship with Michael Halterman. The couple got married in March 2019. In November 2020, Slaton and Halterman welcomed their first son, Gage Deon Halterman.
