Trista Sutter

Background

Trista Sutter grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and was born in Indianapolis in 1972. She has a master’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Miami, a city that she fell in love with as a young woman, and practiced pediatric physical therapy at Miami Children’s Hospital before becoming a Miami Heat dancer in the early 2000s. She took on minor jobs in the entertainment industry before being cast in the inaugural season of ABC’s “The Bachelor” in 2002. Sutter applied for “The Bachelor” because she was looking to experience something new and exciting. Given the promise of this now popular American reality television competition, she could not have made a better decision. She was cast and made it all the way to the end as runner-up. But the fans loved her so much that she was immediately cast as the inaugural bachelorette in ABC’s spin-off series, “The Bachelorette” (2003).

In this spin-off, she found her ideal man, the handsome fireman Ryan Sutter, and got engaged on national television in an episode watched by 30 million people. The Sutters, like Jason and Molly Mesnick and Ashley and J.P. Rosenbaum, are among the few couples from “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” who got married or are still together. It was the golden age of the two shows, and everyone was in it for love before contestants started going on for fame and opportunities, which is why the Sutters are seen not only as veterans but also as a pair that found true love.

The couple have two children, and Sutter, ever the charismatic personality, has appeared on a slew of famous television shows, including “Dancing with the Stars” (2005), “The View” (1997), “Good Morning America” (1975), and “The Oprah Winfrey Show” (1986). Today, the Sutters reside in Eagle County, Colorado. Trista shares her life and experiences with her social media followers and recently went public with her husband’s battle with Lyme disease.
