Tom Hardy

Background

Hardy was born in Hammersmith, London, England, as Edward Thomas Hardy. When he was a child, he moved with his parents Edward John “Chips” Hardy, who is a screenwriter, playwright, novelist, and creative director, and Ann Hardy, who is a painter of Irish descent, to East Sheen. He spent his early years at Reed’s School and continued his education at Tower House School and Richmond Drama School. These years were tough for Hardy due to his overconsumption of alcohol and crack. He has opened up about the horrors he lived through from 12 to 19 years of age due to his addictions. However, he managed to overcome them after hitting rock bottom. He rehabilitated himself and found the motivation to follow his dreams. As soon as he finished high school, he decided on the path the rest of his life will take.

He chose to study acting at the Drama Center in London. After this, he was ready to start his professional career. Thus came his first performance in “Band of Brothers” with great talents of the time and the future: Michael Fassbender, David Schwimmer, Donnie Wahlberg, Damian Lewis, Colin Hanks, Neil Mcdonough, etc., all under the coordination of the greats Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. After this outstanding performance, Hardy gained the recognition that allowed him to be involved with other industry greats such as Ridley Scott in the film production “Black Hawk Down,” Sofia Coppola’s “Marie Antoniette,” Guy Ritchie’s “RocknRolla,” and Stuart Baird’s “Star Trek,” etc. Shortly after, he found international stardom with his interpretation of Bane in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” Speaking of T.V. series, Hardy starred in “Taboo” by Steven Knight and Ridley Scott. Most recently, he took on the role of Alfie Solomons in Steven Knight’s B.B.C. series “Peaky Blinders.” His performance as Al Capone in Josh Trank’s “Fonzo” is another must-see. Hardy’s most recent international success is his portrayal of Eddie Brock in the Marvel movie “Venom.”

He has won acting union awards and BAFTA awards, thanks to his performances, and was even named a member of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Between 1999 and 2004, he was married to Sarah Ward. 10 years later, he married Charlotte Riley, an actress he met on the set of “Wuthering Heights.” The couple has three children.
