Luis Coronel

Background

Luis Coronel sings romantic Mexican regional music, but his music has gone beyond Mexico and now appeals to Latin Pop fans worldwide. Millions of fans adore the handsome singer. Coronel was born on February 3, 1996, in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona. His parents are Miguel Coronel and Gámez Coronel. He has Mexican ethnicity, and his zodiac sign is Aquarius. He completed his high school at Pueblo High School in Tucson. Coronel started singing in the church choir when he was six years old. At home, his maternal grandfather also inspired him to sing. He was greatly influenced by Gerardo Ortiz, whom he later toured with.

Coronel’s childhood ambition was to become a professional boxer, and he worked hard at it. One day, he uploaded a video clip of himself at the gym. The video went viral, and Coronel got noticed by many people. He soon focused on singing and gave up on his boxing plans. He made more videos and posted them on YouTube and Facebook. Many of his videos went viral, and his social media following grew since then. Soon, he caught the attention of DEL Records, the most prominent Latin label in regional Mexican music. The label signed him, and he released “Con la Frente en Alto,” his debut album, in 2013. The album did well, and it won him a ‘New Artist of the Year’ award in 2014.

Coronel released his second and final album with DEL Records in 2014. It was titled “Quiero ser tu dueo,” and it fared even better than his first album. The album helped Coronel win four out of the five awards he was nominated for in 2015. Coronel left DEL Records in 2017 to join Sony Music Latin. He released his third album, “Ahora soy yo,” in 2017.
