Taylor Michael Caniff, who is now an internet sensation with more than four million followers on social media, has won the hearts of many with his charismatic personality and bad-boy attitude. While he’s now at the top of his game, the young Indiana native didn’t always have it so easy. The young influencer, who grew up poor, first launched his Youtube channel at the age of 16 in 2012. He then went on to release videos in the form of sketches and pranks on Vine, all of which put him on the road to fame. Caniff eventually went on to be a part of the original crew for MAGCON – a meet-and-greet convention that grants fans the chance to interact with their favorite online influencers.
In 2014, Caniff created a hip-hop band, 2Virgins with DJ, rapper, and producer, Dillion Rupp. The duo released singles such as ‘Buckwild’ and ‘Like Who.’ In 2016, he collaborated with Trey Schafer for a song dubbed ‘Cash on Me.’ That same year, “Chasing Cameron” debuted on Netflix with Caniff co-starring in the reality series alongside Cameron Dallas. Caniff is considered part of the OGs who have contributed to what influencing has become today. Throughout his career, however, Caniff has come under fire and has been accused by several online personalities of posting comments that were viewed as homophobic and transphobic. In 2016, the social media personality was also accused of having made sexist comments, for which he apologized publicly on Twitter.
In 2015, as a response to the homophobia allegations and the death of a fan, Caniff decided to use his channel to raise awareness about bullying and mental health. Caniff released a YouTube video talking about his fan Megan’s death, and how it affected him. He then went on to announce that he’d be using his YouTube channel to help bring awareness to mental health struggles, urging his fans to reach out to him in the comments and discuss whatever they want. Caniff has 2.5 million followers on Instagram and Twitter, bringing him to a whopping five million total followers on the two platforms combined. He recently founded NFT Marketplace, which is a company providing all the latest NFT-related news with part of its services including growing NFT projects and access to a network of influencers and celebrities.
