They were Indian immigrants from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India, and raised her as a Sikh. Singh has an older sister named Tina, a YouTuber who makes videos about her family life with her husband and their three sons. Singh admits she was a tomboy growing up. She attended the Mary Shadd Public School. In 2006, she graduated from Lester B. Pearson Collegiate Institute in Malvern, Toronto. Four years later, she graduated from York University in Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

In 2010, Singh started her YouTube channel under the pseudonym “Superwoman,” which stemmed from a childhood idea that she could do anything. In December 2011, Singh created her second channel titled “SuperwomanVlogs,” now known as “Lilly Singh Vlogs.” She posted vlogs about her everyday routine and activities on her new channel.
