Kacey Musgraves was born on August 21, 1988, in Golden, Texas, to parents Craig and Karen Musgraves. She began writing songs at the age of eight when she wrote ‘Notice Me’ for her elementary school graduation. Along with Alina Tatum, she was part of Texas Two Bits, which toured Texas and released an independent album in 2000. They were invited to perform at President George W. Bush’s Black Tie and Boots Inaugural Ball. At age 14, her family funded her first solo, self-released album, and she graduated from Mineola High School in 2006. She placed seventh in season five of the singing competition reality T.V. series “Nashville Star.”
Producer Monte Robison discovered Musgraves for his independent record label, Triple Pop, in 2008. She signed with Mercury Nashville in 2012 and released her first solo single, ‘Merry Go ‘Round.’ The song appears on her major-label debut album, “Same Trailer Different Park,” which was released on March 19, 2013. The single ‘Follow Your Arrow’ was ranked 39th on “Rolling Stone” magazine’s list of the ‘100 Greatest Country Songs of All Time.’ In 2012, Musgraves was nominated for four Grammy Awards. She won the Academy of Country Music’s ‘Album of the Year Award’ in 2014. Both ‘Merry Go Round’ and ‘Same Trailer Different Park’ received platinum certification. Musgraves’ second studio album, “Pageant Material,” was released in June 2015. In April 2016, she appeared on “Late Late Show with James Corden,” and her first Christmas album, “A Very Kacey Christmas,” was released in October of the same year. The album “Golden Hour” was released on March 30, 2018, by the record label, MCA Nashville. In October, she began her world tour in Oslo, Norway. Her album was named ‘Album of the Year’ at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards. She made her Met Gala debut as a Barbie doll and announced her signing with modeling agency IMG. In 2019, she recorded a cover of ‘All Is Found’ for the Frozen II soundtrack. Musgraves’ fifth studio album, “Star-Crossed,” was released in September 2021. Her song ‘Oh, What A World’ was featured in the original Christmas film “Dashing in December,” which aired on the Paramount Network.
