Background

Erica Ash had a bit of a nomadic lifestyle growing up. Being a military brat — both parents served their country — Ash moved around a lot, living in different places worldwide. You’d think a person so talented and in love with the performing arts would have chosen this as their career right from childhood, but this was not the case for Ash. She went a different direction, initially focusing all her efforts on becoming a doctor. While she did attend a performing arts school in Atlanta, Georgia, she graduated from Emory University in Atlanta with a degree in pre-medicine. She soon began preparing for her entrance to medical school.

A trip to Japan changed the course of her life. She tried her hand at modeling and singing, becoming a runway model and backup singer. This experience opened the door to a new career, and Ash never looked back.

Ash got her first big break in a Broadway play, “The Lion King,” which also played internationally. She later made a successful transition to television, appearing on “The Big Gay Sketch Show,” “MADtv,” “Survivor’s Remorse,” and “In Contempt,” among countless others. In addition to appearing in plays, television series, and films more than 23 times, she’s also hosted and made guest appearances on several shows throughout the years. She created her comedy website and even a YouTube channel, where she would post hilarious character videos of herself. Ash is also remarkably active with charitable organizations and uses her platform to promote causes dear to her heart.
