Cookiee Kawaii was born on August 5, 1993, in Irvington, New Jersey, and raised there. Her father and mother are both D.Js who specialize in Chicago house music. She was a member of the choirs at her Catholic school. She began composing poetry and singing her poems over beats when she was 12 years old, and she began making her music in 2011.

She started as Harajuku Cookiee, then Cookiee Kawa, and eventually Cookiee Kawaii, all of which were influenced by her fondness for cookies and anime. ” Zen,” her debut album, was published in 2016.
