Background

Tauheed K. Epps is the legal name of the American rapper 2 Chainz. 2 Chainz, who is known for his signature beats and laid-back performances, was born and raised in College Park, Georgia, and graduated from North Clayton High School. He was pretty smart and athletic, so he played basketball and graduated second in his class. 2 Chainz got admitted to Alabama State University on a scholarship and played on the school’s basketball team from 1995 to 1997. He later transferred to Virginia State University but finished at Alabama State.

2 Chainz formed Playaz Circle in 1997. The group was a hip-hop duo and Earl Conyers, AKA Dolla Boy, was the other member. Together they released their independent album, “United We Stand, United We Fall,” in 2002. The duo got acquainted with rapper Ludacris after he moved into their apartment in his days working as a D.J. Ludacris recorded some songs with them, playing some of them on his radio station. Playaz Circle released its debut album, “Supply & Demand,” in October 2007 after signing to Ludacris’ Disturbing Tha Peace label. During his time in Playaz Circle, 2 Chainz used the stage name, Tity Boi. He faced allegations of sexism for it and decided to change his stage name to ‘2 Chainz.’ He released his solo album “Based on a T.R.U. Story” in August 2012. The album was a success. It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 147,000 copies in its first week. 2 Chainz went on his first solo worldwide tour to promote the album. He even got nominated for 12 B.E.T. awards for this album, winning four.

Epps’ success only skyrocketed from here. He released his second album, “B.O.A.T.S. II: Me,” in September 2013. The album featured artists like Fergie, Drake, Lil Wayne, Pusha T, T-Pain, Dolla Boi, etc. So far, Epps has released seven studio albums, with the last, “Dope Don’t Sell Itself,” released in August 2021. He has collaborated with a long list of talented artists like Nicki Minaj, Migos, Jhene Aiko, Ciara, and many others. As a highly successful rapper, Epps has the world at his feet. He’s got the money, fame, and power to do pretty much anything. His personal life isn’t as eventful as his professional one. However, 2 Chainz shares his success with his wife, Kesha Ward, and their three children.
