The longest-running “SNL” anchor, Colin Jost, always had a talent for comedy and worked hard on it from a young age. Jost was born in New York City on June 29, 1982. His father is a former teacher at a medical school while his mother, who is a doctor, is the chief medical officer for the Fire Department in New York City. He is the oldest son and his sibling, Casey, is also a writer and a producer for “Impractical Jokers.” While in high school, he was the editor of the school paper. After graduating, he attended one of the top Ivy League Schools, Harvard. Jost majored in literature and history, focusing on Russia and Great Britain, and graduated with honors.

Since high school and Harvard, Jost has been writing comedy and performing it as well by doing stand-up. In 2005, he was hired as a writer for “Saturday Night Live”, starting in that position and working his way up to Co-Head Writer. During his time as a writer, he created iconic characters like “Drunk Uncle”, played by Bobby Moynihan. After Seth Meyers stepped down from his role as anchor in the “Weekend Update” section of the show, Jost took his place and shared the role with Michael Che.
