Background

Ronald Ray Bryant was born in Vallejo, California, on October 18, 1975. His father and uncles exposed him to a wide range of musical genres. Bryant started his musical career with various rap groups, including Potna Deuce and Latino Velvet, as “Baby Beesh.” His debut album, “Savage Dreams,” was released in 2001 through the independent record company Dope House Records. Artists South Park Mexican, Frost, Jay Tee, Mr. Kee, Don Cisco, and Merciless were featured as special guests.

Dope House Record also released his second studio album, “On tha Cool,” on June 11, 2002, with Johnny Z and Happy P as producers. Like his first album, “On tha Cool” included collaborations with other rappers, including DJ Kane, S.P.M., Jay Tee, Russell Lee, Don Cisco, and Mr. Shadow. Following positive attention from the album’s release, Universal Records signed him later that year. They produced “Tha Smokin’ Nephew,” his first album with a big label, in 2003. It debuted 48th on the Billboard 200, and the Recording Industry Association of America (R.I.A.A.) certified it Gold only five months after its debut. By March 2005, it had sold 531,000 copies in the U.S.

In December 2010, Wild 94.9, a Rhythmic Contemporary commercial radio station based in San Francisco, California, offered Bryant an on-air personality position. Shortly after, Bryant revealed that he accepted a sponsorship deal for Go Girl, a new energy drink for women, with a portion of the energy drink’s sales going to organizations supporting women’s cancer research, particularly ovarian and breast cancer. The rapper released his eighth studio album, “Unsung,” on December 17, 2013. It featured Too Short, Miguel, and Problem and was produced by DJ Rex, Happy Perez, Mickaël, J. Lacy, and C-Ballin.
