National Catchers Day

National Catchers Day on February 2 commemorates catchers. Catchers receive pitches from pitchers while crouching behind the home plate in front of the umpire. Celebrated catchers of the past and present are honored on National Catcher’s Day.

National Kettlebell Day

National Kettlebell Day on January 12 celebrates the humble cast iron (or cast steel) ball known as the kettlebell. Resembling a cannonball with a handle, the kettlebell can be used for a variety of activities, including for sports, strength exercises, and other fitness uses. The organizers behind this day, whom we’ll introduce shortly, want this celebration to spotlight the kettlebell as a fitness tool. In their words, they want more and more people to embrace this tool, and not be afraid of using it.

Cigarettes are Hazardous to Your Health Day

Cigarettes Are Hazardous To Your Health Day takes place on January 11 to create awareness of the high smoking rates and the health disadvantages of cigarette smoking. A cigarette is a narrow cylindrical container with burnable material, usually, tobacco, rolled into thin paper for smoking. The cigarette is lit at one end, creating a smoldering effect and resulting in smoke that is orally inhaled through the other end of the cigarette. This is the most common method of tobacco consumption, and manufacturers of cigarettes have described the cigarette as “a drug administration system for the delivery of nicotine in acceptable and attractive form.” The term ‘cigarette,’ as it is commonly used, usually refers to a tobacco cigarette, but sometimes the word also refers to other substances, such as a cannabis cigarette or a herbal cigarette.
